God's Complete Word Hebrews 7:25
Importance of the Gospel of Christ
When it comes to an eternity filled with rest, the man without Christ has absolutely no hope. It is because of the grace of Almighty God that mankind has the hope of eternal salvation. Through the gift of Christ's sacrifice on the cross of Calvary, all men now have opportunity to turn to Christ. The apostle Paul made it clear in Ephesians 2:11-13, that those who do not come into contact with the blood of Christ will be lost for eternity.

How does one "get into" Christ? By obeying His gospel. What is the gospel? The word "gospel" as used in Romans 1:16, means "a good message." This message contains the good news that mankind can be liberated from the bondage of sin. Mankind no longer has to remain a slave of sin (Romans 6:17) but can become a child of God that looks forward to spending eternity in heaven. Paul said the gospel has the power to save. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also the Greek. (Romans 1:16) Man is expected to obey that gospel.

The message presented in the New Testament contains two parts,
(a) how one becomes a child of God; and
(b) upon becoming a child of God, how one can get to heaven.
Upon becoming a member of the church by believing in Christ (Hebrews 11:6), repenting of sin (Luke 13:3), confessing that Christ is the Son of God (Romans 10:10), and being baptized for the remission of sins (1 Peter 3:21; Mark 16:16), one can concentrate on going home to heaven.

After one obeys the gospel he learns what is necessary to obtain eternal life when our earthly pilgrimage is over. A child of God must remain faithful until death (Revelation 2:10), bear fruit for the kingdom (John 14:8), and increase in one's faith and knowledge of the Scriptures (2 Peter 1:5-11; 3:18). The Gospel is indeed good news!

We must obey the gospel of Christ. God wants each one of us in heaven, and we must follow HIS plan to get there. One must realize that no one will be in heaven who has not obeyed the gospel of Christ! Paul said in 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, in flaming fire taking vengeance upon those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power. Jesus is the only way! In John 14:6 we read, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. There is simply no salvation found in Buddha, Mohammed, the Hale-Bob comet, or "being a moral person doing good deeds" while living upon the earth.
Be not mistaken: no obedience to gospel...no salvation.

We must preach the gospel. In Matthew 28:19-20 we read, Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Those who are God's children have been issued the command to "go and teach." This is the responsibility of all Christians. When the gospel is taught in simplicity and conviction it will bring forth results. For example, in Acts 8:35, Phillip preached Jesus to the Ethiopian eunuch. As a result of hearing the gospel, the eunuch believed and was baptized the very same day. Later in Acts 8:39 we find this man went on his way rejoicing - because he obeyed the gospel! This man received good news on that day. No doubt he was anxious to tell others about the precious gift of Jesus Christ. Let us fulfill our responsibility to share the good news of Christ with all who will hear!

Finally, the gospel is for all! Christ died for the sins of man. All men, regardless of race, origin, etc., have opportunity to obey the gospel of Christ. There is no one who cannot be saved by the blood of Christ (Hebrews 7:25). There will be no excuse for not obeying when it is too late. Have you become a child of God by obeying the gospel? Are you striving to live in a manner which is pleasing to God? If not, do not delay, but do so while you have opportunity!
